Reversing Falls | Is This Thing On?

There was a time, in my younger days, when I felt no kneejerk adversity toward pop-punk in general. Every now and then I’ll hear an old The Starting Line song and hum along, holding on to some semblance of the days I spent learning each song on my guitar. To be clear, Is This Thing On? is not pop-punk - but there’s a certain sound here that is unmistakable. While filtered through a smudged, somewhat grittier lens, I’d recognize the style of those guitar solos, power chords, and the way the music drops out completely only to come bursting back to life about 2/3rds of the way through the song. Props to Reversing Falls for making a blessing of a track, both for it’s current coolness and subtle reminder of when days were different.
