Oupa | Forget

My first exposure to Yu(c)k was the ghostly track Automatic, sung like frontman Daniel Blumburg was barely clinging to life after an emotional heart wound. It made for a heartbreaking, and honestly moving, listen. Followed by Weakend, and then by Daughter, two tracks off the Weakend EP, was I so wrong to assume that the debut Yuck album would feature at least some of these heartwrenching ballads?

Whether you’re a big fan of the album or not (I think it’s pretty good regardless), I was pumped to find out about Oupa, Blumberg’s side project following in the vein of his earlier music. So far all we have is a (great) slightly reworked version of Daughter and the track above, Forget, which caught my attention instantly. Both are slated to be on the Forget EP, which doesn’t seem to have a release date yet (maybe it’s only available on tour?), but I’m sure the Oupa website will have info when it’s ready. In the meantime, check out the song above and a video for Yu(c)k’s Daughter below.
